The Roof of Africa, the world’s oldest enduro race, invites racers once again to push their limits from 28 – 30 November 2024. Official accommodation partners, Avani Lesotho Hotel & Casino and Avani Maseru Hotel will once again welcome hundreds of participants and spectators through their doors for comfort after heart-pounding days biking through the spectacular terrain of the Maluti Mountains.
Since 1967, The Roof of Africa has been the ‘Mother of Hard Enduro’ and is a prized calendar event for the South African biking community, which also attracts international riders from Germany, Japan and even Iceland. There are four main categories – Gold, Silver, Bronze and Iron and mostly male competitors, though a handful of brave females also compete.
For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, a three-day Adventure Ride is available alongside the hard enduro event. Riders can witness the incredible feats of champions such as Wade Young (eight-time winner) and explore the stunning Lesotho landscape.
Before the three-day event begins, documentation and screening take place at Avani Lesotho Hotel & Casino, which is also where the briefing for the race takes place. The races begin with a Round the Houses and Maseru Mall Mountain Mayhem TT, which is compulsory for all riders and a fantastic opportunity for spectators to catch the action.
Avani Lesotho Hotel & Casino and Avani Maseru Hotel have a long-standing partnership with The Roof of Africa and remain the preferred place for riders to unwind after exhilarating days of racing.
