Jarvis is coming back to the Roof of Africa.
If you suss out the illustrious gold entry list for 2025, one name jumps out. Graham Jarvis.
One of The Roof Of Africa’s most famous sons has entered for 2025. Arguably one of the GOAT of this sport, Graham Jarvis first won the event in 2011 during his debut appearance, beating the incredibly talented Chris Birch a previous three-time winner. At 50 plus, he’s still banging bars with the best in the world. We look forward to sharing a plate of fish and chips with him in Maseru.
Meet Roofus The Chatbot!
Roofus?
Roofus is a dedicated multilingual AI chatbot available 24 hours a day via WhatsApp.
Developed and designed in partnership with PPT, a leading technology firm specialising in practical digital solutions for businesses and events, Roofus is set to become the central source of information for competitors, service crews, and spectators leading up to and during the 2025 event.
Yup! We were first introduced to Roofus, the Roof Of Africa ChatBot a few weeks ago, while it was still being fine tuned. Well, it seems it’s all good because we asked who would win this years Roof Of Africa and were informed categorically, but politely that it would not be anyone from Dirt And Trail.
So, you need to believe it. The chatbot is super helpful with other queries like:
Q: Can I Pop A Wheelie?
A: Ja nee (It even talks like some of us), popping a wheelie is a classic move, but it’s all about balance and control. If you’re planning to show off your skills at the Roof of Africa, make sure you’re in a safe area and have the technique down pat. Remember, safety first, and always be aware of your surroundings and other riders. Keep it sharp sharp, and enjoy the ride!
Makes great sense to us!
In all seriousness though, Roofus has answered all sorts like where to go if you are spectating, start and finish points and so on. Quite entertaining and also informative…
This includes critical details such as the official race schedule, start and finish locations, GPS coordinates, and rider position and timing updates. The ability to respond immediately in multiple languages ensures clarity and simplicity for the global community that follows the “Mother of Hard Enduro.”
Spectators and riders can even send in their photos of the race and the competitors via WhatsApp, and the AI will automatically moderate and tag any visible race numbers, creating a streamlined process for media and community engagement.
Roof of Africa Event Director, Ross Whitehead, emphasised the strategic importance of the tool: “Roofus is a game-changer for our event. It means our team can focus on the logistics of the race, confident that every competitor and fan with internet access, has instant access to verified, real-time information. It’s about leveraging smart technology to enhance safety and the overall experience.”

Long Time Roof Supporters, Motul are back in action:
Motul, is once again committed to making “The Mother of Hard Enduro” a little more comfortable for every competitor. The Motul Bike Wash returns, managed for another year by Craig Kruger and his Extreme Clean team. They’ll be ready at the end of each stage to blast away the day’s muck, mud, and grime, allowing weary riders to focus on recovery and preparation while their machines are expertly cleaned and checked.
Goscor is providing the pressure washers to handle the cleaning demands of the event. Crucially, in line with Motul’s “Protecting our Playground” ethos, the team will use Motul Moto Wash, a biodegradable cleaner and degreaser from their MC Care range.
“The Roof of Africa is one of the toughest tests in motorsports, and we know that every second counts—both on the bike and during recovery,” explains Mercia Jansen, Motul General Manager for Southern and Eastern Africa. “Our Bike Wash takes the hard work out of cleaning, giving riders more time to focus on preparing for the next day. It’s about supporting the competitors completely, from our superior lubricants inside their engines to the biodegradable wash that keeps our shared playground clean.”
Wayne Allen, Technical Manager from Goscor added, “We are proud to partner with Motul and the Roof of Africa this year by providing the reliable, powerful pressure washers the Extreme Clean team needs. Hard Enduro demands the best performance and that includes the equipment used to maintain them. We’re happy to contribute to an essential service that makes the race possible for so many competitors.”
