Round 3 of the 2026 South African National Motocross Championship rolled into the Western Cape, with the series landing at the ever-demanding Zone 7 MX Track.
After a week of heavy rain in Cape Town, things could’ve gone sideways quickly, but credit where it’s due, the Zone 7 crew stepped in and put in the hours. Come race day, the track was in seriously good shape and ready for battle.
With 120 entries on the roster and a packed MX park buzzing with fans, Round 3 ran like a well-oiled machine. It has to be mentioned that Ducati took their first national win in MX3.
Zone 7 is always a proper test, and this weekend was no different. Fast, open, and sandy, it forces riders to stay on the gas while managing ever-changing lines.
As the day wore on, the surface broke down into deep ruts and soft patches, turning the track into a physical grind. Smooth riding and smart line choice became the difference between charging forward or fading back.
Gates were stacked and the intensity showed from the first drop. Starts mattered, but it was consistency across both motos that told the real story.
Up front, the big names delivered.
