We have trolled the world wide web trying to find the answer to this question. And other than a mysterious click bait teaser video, we can find no conclusive official answer.
However. History has taught us that ‘Where there is smoke, there is fire” so we delved in deeper, and this is what we found.
The Glamis Sand Dunes, near Brawley, California are the hot spot for all things four wheelers, and where a lot of Side x Sides get tested during development. Somebody, enjoying some midweek quiet time out in the dunes heard a wailing, snorting and whistling of something that sounded a lot like an H2R coming across the dunes at speed in their general direction. Thinking some maniac had fitted their H2R with sand paddle tyres and was playing in the dunes, (which seems to be a thing in the States on social media these days), they got their camera ready.
What came zooting over the dune was a bright green Side X Side emitting said glorious coffee grinder cacophony with a camera boom, (so one would assume they were shooting a promo video for the machine) and the graphics on the door said H2.
If you couple that with another “spy pic” or two and “leaked” schematics of a supercharged four pot mill, admittedly in something that looks more agricultural/utility focused, it’s no wonder that all of the UTV and SxS forums areablaze with speculation.
Dig in a bit deeper, and that speculation starts turning to tentative certainty on a lot of the platforms. We certainly do hope that all the speculation turns out to be true. It would be fantastic to have a Japanese manufacturer take it to the likes of Polaris and Can-Am in the World Rally Raid Championships, we certainly think it will be one of the most powerful Side X Side’s ever built.
Will we ever see them arriving on South African shores?
Thats a good question, SXS’s are beeg business and we certainly hope so.
Here’s hoping.
