Suzuki DRZ

Suzuki re-joins the dual sport market:

Eicma saw the unveiling of the new Suzuki DR-Z4S trailie and DR-Z4SM Supermoto.

And it’s about time!

Their DRZ 400 achieved legend status around the world and now that bike has been re engineered for new generations.

The bikes might look the same, bar the obvious wheel sizes(The S has an 18/21-inch wheel combo, with the SM running 17-inchwheels), but the S features longer-travel suspension and different electronics – including the ability to switch off  the ABS, front and rear.

The steel perimeter frame has an aluminium subframe, strong enough for a passenger and their luggage.

Suspension is by KYB, with the DR getting 280mm up front and 296mm out back.

The SM has shorter travel at 260mm (front) and 277mm (rear) bounce.

Both have compression and rebound damping adjustment, front and rear.

The standard fuel tank holds 8.7 litres and with modern EFI, it should be pretty frugal.

While the engine sounds similar to the one we all know, the fuel-injected, dual-spark 398cc motor is all new. It puts out a claimed 37.4bhp at 8000rpm and 27lb.ft of torque at 6500rpm.

Good stuff this!
