Ricky Raaff Racing RR25 – Keeping the Racing Spirit Alive.

There are plenty of workshops in motocross, but every now and then you find one that feels like it belongs at the racetrack as much as it does in the workshop.

Ricky Raaff Racing RR25 – The Real 252 is one of those places.

Based from Peter Raaff’s home garage, RR25 has grown from a small mobile motocross repair operation into a cool operatio that supports riders across the South African racing scene.

The Raaff family has been involved in racing for more than 20 years, with both Ricky and his sister Kayla making their mark as South African champions. During Covid, Ricky and Kayla encouraged their dad to turn the work he was already doing for riders into a proper business.

Where needed Peter will go.

It started with Peter loading his tools into the vehicle and heading to the track. Today, the operation has a dedicated home workshop and caters for everything from junior bikes and two-strokes to senior racing and four-stroke machinery.

For the family, starting the business was never going to be easy, but the incredible support from riders, parents and the motocross community gave them the push to keep going.

The business was renamed Ricky Raaff Racing RR25 – The Real 252, keeping Ricky’s name firmly connected to the sport he loved. And if you know about MX in SA, you know that story.

Today, Peter offers race preparation, engine rebuilds and modifications, carburettor setup, wheel tuning, pipe-dent removal and suspension setup, along with trackside race support.

And that trackside support is a big part of what RR25 is about. Peter understands that on race day, having someone who knows your bike and can sort out a problem quickly can make all the difference.

Peter also had the opportunity to work on the bikes of some of the riders competing at the South African MXGP when the championship came to home soil, giving him a unique glimpse into the demands of racing at the highest level.

For Peter it is all about joy of racing.

But at the heart of RR25, it is still about the rider, the bike and getting to the starting gate.

There is no fancy corporate workshop here. Just a home garage, plenty of experience, a passion for racing and a family determined to keep moving forward.

The bikes keep racing, Peter keeps turning spanners, and Ricky’s name remains firmly part of the motocross community.
