MXGP Round 13 – Herlings Perfect in Czech Republic as Farres Tops MX2

Round 13 of the MXGP World Championship headed to the Czech Republic, but one of the biggest stories unfolded before racing even began. Championship leader Lucas Coenen was forced to sit out the weekend through injury, opening the door for his title rivals to close the gap in the standings.

#84 Jeffrey Herlings was simply unstoppable, taking victory in both races to complete a perfect weekend.

In MXGP Heat 1, Herlings claimed the win ahead of #1 Romain Febvre, while #16 Tom Vialle completed the podium in third.

MXGP Heat 2 was another masterclass from Herlings, who again crossed the line first. Vialle improved to second, with #243 Tim Gajser taking third.

The overall MXGP podium saw #84 Jeffrey Herlings take the top step, #16 Tom Vialle finish second overall and #1 Romain Febvre secured third. With championship leader Coenen absent through injury, Febvre banked valuable championship points heading into the next round.

The MX2 class once again delivered plenty of action, with South Africa’s #8 Camden McLellan putting together another impressive weekend.

In MX2 Heat 1, #99 Guillem Farres took the win ahead of McLellan, while #772 Janis Martins Reisulis finished third.

MX2 Heat 2 belonged to #26 Liam Everts, with Farres finishing second and #47 Karlis Alberts Reisulis taking third.

Consistency paid off for Farres, earning #99 Guillem Farres the overall MX2 victory. #8 Camden McLellan combined his second place in Heat 1 with another solid points-scoring ride to finish second overall, while #772 Janis Martins Reisulis rounded out the overall podium.

The championship now heads to the legendary deep sand of Lommel, Belgium, for Round 14 on 2 August, where one of the toughest circuits on the MXGP calendar is sure to shake up the championship once again.
