This weekend, MXGP heads for South Africa and we cannot wait to see what action it brings. Last weekend was the Potugal round. Here’s what happened…

MXGP
Race 1
Young Belgian Lucas Coenen claimed victory in the opening MXGP race after another confident ride aboard his KTM. Jeffrey Herlings kept the pressure on throughout to finish second, while championship leader Romain Febvre secured another consistent result in third.
Race 2
Herlings struck back in the second outing with a dominant performance, taking the chequered flag ahead of Coenen. Febvre once again rode a measured race to finish third, ensuring valuable championship points.

MX2
Race 1
Guillem Farrés produced an excellent ride to take victory in the opening MX2 race ahead of Janis Martins Reisulis, while reigning world champion Simon Längenfelder crossed the line in third. South Africa’s Camden McLellan finished a strong fourth after an entertaining battle with Längenfelder that kept fans watching until the final laps.
Race 2
Farrés completed a perfect day by taking another race win, with Sacha Coenen finishing second and Liam Everts coming home third. McLellan again found himself battling hard with Längenfelder during the race before taking fifth at the flag.
Two race victories handed Farrés the overall Grand Prix victory, with Reisulis finishing second overall and Coenen securing third. McLellan’s consistent rides earned him sixth overall for the weekend.

Eyes on Terra Topia
Despite narrowly missing the overall top five in Portugal, McLellan continues to hold an impressive fourth place in the MX2 World Championship standings as the series prepares for one of its most anticipated rounds of the season.
The next stop is South Africa, with Terra Topia hosting Round 11 of the MXGP World Championship on 5 July. It promises to be a landmark event for local motocross fans, who will finally have the opportunity to watch the world’s best riders compete on South African soil. All eyes will be on McLellan as he looks to use home support to close the gap on the championship leaders and challenge for a memorable result in front of his local fans.
