The deep sand of Kegums provided another interesting chapter in the 2026 MXGP World Championship as the Coenen brothers put on a masterclass at Round 8. Lucas Coenen was simply unstoppable in the premier MXGP class, while Sacha Coenen completed a perfect weekend in MX2. South Africa’s Camden McLellan also continued his strong run with an impressive overall podium finish.

Race 1
Lucas Coenen got his day off to the perfect start by taking victory in the opening MXGP race. Kay de Wolf kept the pressure on throughout the race to finish second, while Jeffrey Herlings crossed the line in third after another determined ride through the Latvian sand.
Race 2
Race was the Coenan show again as he completed a flawless day with a second race victory. Romain Febvre put together a strong ride to claim second place, while Kay de Wolf backed up his Race 1 result with another consistent third-place finish.
Overall Results
With maximum points from both races, Lucas Coenen comfortably secured the overall victory. Kay de Wolf’s consistency earned him second overall, while Romain Febvre completed the overall podium in third.
