MXGP: HERLINGS TAKES THE OVERALL

The opening MXGP race saw Jeffrey Herlings remind the paddock exactly why he remains one of the sport’s greatest riders. The Dutchman took victory ahead of Maxime Renaux, with championship leader Lucas Coenen finishing in third.

Race two produced a different winner as Tim Gajser charged to victory, but consistency across both motos ultimately handed the overall win to Herlings. The KTM rider finished second behind Gajser in the final race, while Lucas Coenen once again secured third place.

Those results gave Herlings the overall victory for the weekend ahead of Coenen and Renaux. Coenen’s pair of third-place finishes ensured he continued to gather valuable championship points, while Renaux’s strong opening moto helped him secure the final podium position overall.

MX2: SACHA COENEN CLAIMS THE WIN, McLELLAN SHINES

MX2 delivered some of the closest racing of the weekend.

Race one belonged to Guillem Farres, who claimed a popular victory ahead of Sacha Coenen and championship leader Simon Längenfelder. South Africa’s Camden McLellan put together a solid opening moto to finish seventh and keep himself firmly in contention for the overall standings.

The second moto saw McLellan produce a superb ride. The Triumph rider controlled the race to take a memorable victory ahead of Sacha Coenen and Liam Everts.

While McLellan’s race win was the highlight of the day, Sacha Coenen’s consistency proved enough to secure the overall victory. The Belgian’s second and second-place finishes earned him the top step ahead of Farres, while McLellan’s race-two triumph elevated him to third overall.
