Motus Honda bike weekend adventure | Motorcycle weekend ride

I was feeling quite chuffed to be invited to join other Honda owners to an appreciation getaway with the Motus Honda group.

Our meeting point was at Honda Wing Sandton, where we were joined by a lekker crowd. After a nice cup of coffee and a briefing on the trip ahead, we mounted our bikes and left the dealership for a cool ride out to Grotto to Gravel, the venue in the Magaliesberge.

It was a great, scenic route with nice twists and bends that had us carving our way on an approximate 100km ride all controlled by the West Side Riders to safely navigate the traffic and intersections.

This made for a smooth trip with no worries all the way to our destination. It is something else riding with a group of people in a scattered formation. You can’t help but grin. As we pulled into the gates of Grotto to Gravel (More on this venue soon), we were met with smiling faces and a very warm welcome.

After a delicious breakfast, they checked us in and we had a chance to get settled before the festivities kicked off.

Honda had a few bikes there for the guys and girls to go and have some good old dirty fun out in the dust. A Bike for everyone, from the smaller XR190L to the bigger Transalp XL750 and the crowd favourite the CRF1100 Africa Twin.

Grotto to Gravel has their own dirt routes, uphills, downhills, rocky terrain and loose gravel, everything a dirt bike enthusiast likes.

Then, we headed out the gates on an outride that took us out into the Surrounding coutryside.

The return route was complimented by a spectacular sunset, for some – a highlight of the trip that will not be forgotten.

One of the coolest things was that it was not all just about Honda, they opened the event to all bikes and riders.

You get to meet people with the same passion and share so many interesting stories around the campfire. It’s always cool.

People of all walks of life getting together and as strangers and leaving as ‘Familia’.

Motorcycles make friends. You meet the nicest people on a Honda.

On Sunday morning, most of the riders made an early start to go and cruise the outride one more time before we were joined by more riders, including a horde of BMW riders.

But that’s a different story for a little bit later.

Thank you for an awesome weekend. You do meet the nicest people on a Honda.
