Lommel’s brutal sand circuit once again separated the pretenders from the contenders, and two riders left Belgium with perfect weekends. Jeffrey Herlings dominated the MXGP class while South Africa’s Camden McLellan produced a flawless performance in MX2, taking maximum points and climbing to third in the championship standings.

#84 Jeffrey Herlings once again proved why he’s regarded as one of the greatest sand riders in the world, dominating both motos for a perfect weekend.
In MXGP Heat 1, Herlings took the win ahead of #74 Kay de Wolf, while #243 Tim Gajser finished in third.
MXGP Heat 2 was another commanding performance from Herlings, who again crossed the finish line first. De Wolf backed up his first race result with another second place, while #16 Tom Vialle claimed third.
The overall MXGP podium saw #84 Jeffrey Herlings stand on the top step, #74 Kay de Wolf finish second overall and #243 Tim Gajser secured third place after a consistent weekend.

MX2
The MX2 class belonged to South Africa’s #8 Camden McLellan, who was simply untouchable in the Belgian sand to record a perfect 1-1 weekend.
In MX2 Heat 1, McLellan claimed victory ahead of #1 Simon Längenfelder, while #99 Guillem Farres finished third.
MX2 Heat 2 saw McLellan make it two wins from two starts, with Farres taking second and Längenfelder took the final step in third.
The overall MX2 podium saw #8 Camden McLellan take a well-deserved overall victory after his perfect weekend. #99 Guillem Farres finished second overall, while #1 Simon Längenfelder completed the podium in third.

McLellan’s outstanding performance sees the South African move up to third in the MX2 World Championship standings, keeping himself firmly in the title hunt as the championship enters its closing stages.
The championship now heads to Sweden for Round 15 on 23 August, where another crucial weekend awaits in both the MXGP and MX2 title battles.
