Kayo motorcycles have always has a presence in SA, with various companies importing the brand, often with their own branding on the bikes. It is now imported by KMSA.
KAYO International:
KAYO entered the market in 2002 and began manufacturing pit bikes for export to the European Market. KAYO’s Chairman Mr Jigang Dai spent ten years working at Honda. He decided to take a leap of faith and KAYO was born.
KAYO Today: In 2020, KAYO produced 50,000+ pit bikes, dirt bikes and ATV’s. The Chinese government selected KAYO’s pit bike to be used in the national off road races. KAYO’s dirt bike has become a leader in the Chinese dirt bike industry. The Chinese national off road race team is known as “Team KAYO”
KMSA has a wide arsenal of brands in their product lineup, including Kawasaki, SYM, Pirelli and a great selection of various other accessories. They have a dealer network that extends into all of the provinces – and, they say, a massive focus on parts.
“There was actually a delay with us bringing this brand to the SA market,” Says Chris Speight, the MD at KMSA, “We wanted to make sure that we had all of the correct parts for the bikes and ATV’s in place before we got them out to the dealerships.”
This looks like a fun brand with a garage full of toys at what seems to be really sharp pricing. And we say toys, because that’s what they do. No road bikes, just really good bikes, ATV’s, buggy’s and karts for the dirt.
We were introduced to the model lineup recently, pit bikes, dirt bikes, ATVs…. and even a very cool little 70c four-stroke off-road Kart.
We’ll be grabbing the bikes over the next few months and bringing you more on this brand as we go along.
