Inland MX Series Round 4

Inland MX Series Round 4.

A muddy slip and slide…

Full gates and happy faces.

Words and photos by Deon vdl Photography.

After a very, very wet and rainy week, we thought that this would be soppy, muddy track racing. When we got to the track that is exactly what we got, but not from the rain, it was from prepping the track after it dried up the day before.

Uncle Xavier pulled off his magic and made the track a slippery day of mayhem and skill…

Inland MX Series Round 4
Thick mud making for some great action.

Let’s start in race order.

50cc JNR & SNR.

The qualifying runs had more parents on the track than riders and they were kept busy running around picking up kids and bikes out of the mud. It was a clear sign that the day was going to be quite a spectacle.

JNR: #30 Brayden Tucker started his qualifying round with a run that let his class know he was going to be a tough nut to crack. #212 Alex Sutherland, just 1.603sec off Tucker’s pace was still 5.329sec ahead of #88 Reestin Bartlett.

Race 1: Tucker picked all the right lines as he rode to a convincing win of 1:07.700 #18a Gary Hamer and Bartlett were trickling through the mud to see who would take second place. Hamer took 2nd as Bartlett followed in 3rd by 2.396sec.

Race 2: Saw the pack spread out almost evenly as the riders fought the track more than each other. As the flag came out, it was Tucker to take it first by 25.247sec. Bartlett had a much better run this time as he was the one crossing in 2nd leaving 3rd to Hamer who came 22.795sec later.

SNR: Taking thier shot at the muddy madness was #20 Luan Jordaan who had the fastest time by nearly 5sec.

#6 Millan Roux came next with #117 Trey Dean 0.384sec off Dean’s pace.

Race 1: Jordaan had a very good run as he left the pack well behind him and took the win by 25.159sec. Dean with a great run of his own took 2nd with #118 Mason Vrey taking the 3rd spot.

Race 2: Trey and Jordaan went at each other as they fought for the win. At the end it was Trey who came through in 1st with Jordaan just under 2sec in 2nd place.

Vrey secured another 3rd place.

Race 2: Had the birthday boy #13 Thomas Spear outclassing the rest for the win by 14.893sec, Cherti with good results took 2nd and Louw ended 3rd.

SNR: #337 Slade Smith and #25 Ricky Raaff made it interesting in Practice as Raaff was only 0.543sec slower than Smith.

Race 1: Raaff, with a good start had Smith chasing him for a while until Smith had an excellent display on how to close the gate on someone. He showed Raaff some international talent and powered off into the lead and a big win. Raaff had to settle for 2nd and Strunkheide placed 3rd.

Race 2: Only 2 riders made it to the gate for the last race of the day and Smith decided to go out with a bang as he dominated.
