Honda SA Fun Day

Honda Family Fun Day…

If You happened to miss the Honda Funday that happened at ADA out near Harties last weekend… go to the mirror and have a stern chat with yourself. It was great!

Why? You ask.

Well that one’s simple to answer. Honda has a brilliant variety of bikes for the whole family, from small four-strokes to medium ones and some of the big capacity – fire breathing variety.

We arrived to a sea of happy faces out and about, “Sampling the goods”, so to speak – all under expert guidance from Hondas training partner, ADA.

Small kids on mini bikes, bigger kids on trail bikes, grown kids on Honda’s little dual purpose bikes and the biggest kids whizzing around on the Honda Adventure machines – ladies on scooters… it was a motorcycle overload.

The day was about getting bums into and onto saddles and – by gum, they got it right.

Beginners were taught to ride on a great big flat piece of open ground – and only once they had the basics of throttle, brakes and turning under control were they allowed near anything remotely bumpy or tricky. It was cool to see how people progressed – and not only the little people either…

Motul was along with all of their good bike stuff and friendly faces to answer and questions that you might have had.

Leatt brought along their latest gear and had a lot of fun trying to keep the Leatt dawg out of the fishpond.

Dealers from in and around Gauteng were on hand giving advice, displaying their wares and just soaking in the great spirit that is motorcycling.

There was a machine with a roller for static riding – anyone could try without the fear of falling over or crashing into the bunting tape. The Hooligan MX crew brought along their wheelie machine for people to test their one wheeled skills… It was great!

Of course, there was a little bit of competition in the form of a slalom course on the ADA skidpan. Riders had to Zig-Zag through cones and turn the arm without knocking anything over as they went… the top three times won the prizes.

What a lekker day this was – and best of all – all of the proceeds from tickets sold are to be donated to the Reach For A Dream Foundation, a South African non-profit organization founded in 1988 that fulfills the individual wishes of children aged 3 to 18 fighting life-threatening illnesses. The charity was chosen by the Honda South Africa team.

Nice one guys.

A day like this makes so much sense to us – and a brand like Honda really does have a bike that is suitable for anyone who wants to learn to ride.

As we said at the start: Big smiles all around. We’ll bet that lots of parents are currently being nagged… We can actually hear them…

“Mom, Dad! Please can we get a Honda!”

Plans are afoot for more days like this nationally. Watch the Honda SA socials, chat to your Honda dealers and watch this space.
