Round 2 of the Gauteng Xross Country Club Championship and MSA Northern Regions Cross Country Championship took place on Saturday, 18 April 2026 at the famous Lekoa Lodge out near Villiers.
After rain the night before the event, conditions were perfect for racing. With the dust settled and no rain on race day, the stage was set for a great day of cross-country racing. Junior bike, senior quad and senior bike competitors all took to the track to battle it out for the top step of the podium in their respective classes.
The track proved to be a true test of skill and endurance. Known for its rocky terrain, the Lekoa route challenged riders to stay focused and disciplined from start to finish. Although tough, many riders described this scenic route along the banks of the Waterval River as incredibly rewarding.
Beyond racing, GXCC Round 2 was a true celebration of cross-country community. Lekoa Lodge once again proved why it is such a popular venue, with its camping facilities and chalets fully booked for the entire weekend. Families, teams and supporters all came together for a weekend of shared passion of racing.
The event concluded with a well-attended prize giving at the Lekoa Lodge restaurant, where the performance of riders was celebrated and teams and families were given the opportunity to wind down and share stories of the day.
