These days it seems like everybody and their brothers are printing decal kits for dirt bikes in their garages. Some are actually really good and others, well, not so much. We stopped in at Bandit Bike Graffix who are probably the bike industry’s longest running decal kit guys for a quick chat and to find out a bit more about the world of decal kits.
A bit of history about Bandit:
If you have even very limited knowledge of Off-Road bike racing you might have heard of Darryl Curtis. He’s a multiple South African Off Road and Enduro champion, Dakar and Extreme enduro campaigner as well as ASO liaison officer and commentator for Red Bull.
Darryl started Bandit Signs and Graffix all the way back in 1994, 30 years ago. Back in those days the technology wasn’t quite where it is now and they still had to screen print everything. Over the last 30 years, they tell us that they have kept up with the progress of technology, keeping their team, equipment and products up to date along the way with the absolute best the market has to offer, not only locally but internationally.
Along the way Darryl partnered with Mauritz Meiring who onboarded as a managing partner from the end of 2016. Racestar Graphics was then acquired towards the end of covid to strengthen the brand. Bandit GFX are called on by most of our local and international champions for their own bespoke graphic bike kits, including a certain BB33…
As far as off-road bikes are concerned, they can make sticker kits for any traditional make and model and ordering your kit is as simple as a few clicks on their website. They can do semi as well as full custom kits or you can order one of their many designs on their website. They can send it to you anywhere in the world via courier services.
Mauritz and Darryl tell us that they use only the best materials, inks and machines on the market, and you can be rest assured that your decals will be of the highest quality. BGFX also offers an application service to make sure your decals are applied bubble free and professionally.
Total time from start of design to finish is generally between 3 to 5 days, depending on if it’s a Semi Custom or Full Custom design. A booking can then be made to do the application which will be a day or 2 to make sure the graphics are set properly.
