2027 KTM SX Factory

Eicma 2026

lots of new bikes announced… KTM has revised its 250 and 450 SX-F motocross bikes for 2027, starting with the top-spec Factory Editions.

Both models feature new exhaust systems to meet the current 109 dB noise regulations. KTM says these reduce noise without affecting engine performance.

The gearboxes are now lighter and stronger, and KTM says they also deliver smoother shifts.

The Vitesco M4C ECU now offers faster processing with more advanced algorithms and gear-dependent mapping. The quickshifter has been improved, and there is better control over the fuelling and ignition mapping.

KTM says the chassis revisions on both models focus on weight reduction, sharper handling, and more predictable feedback.

The biggest change is the return of the WP XACT 48 mm Closed Cartridge spring forks, which replace the previous air forks. These are paired with a WP XACT rear shock that offers more adjustability, including a new high-speed compression clicker. Travel for the new suspension is 312.5/317 mm.

The steel frames for the 2027 SX-F Factory Editions are completely new and lighter, with revised geometry and stiffness, a new steering head, and revised engine mounts.

The aluminium subframe is now the lightest ever at just 1.23 kg, and there is a new die-cast aluminium swingarm.

The wheelbase is adjustable thanks to new CNC-machined triple clamps with an offset that can be set between 22 and 24 mm. The chain tensioner adds a further 5 mm of adjustability.

The seat and footpegs have been redesigned, creating a slimmer profile and more leg contact area.

Other upgrades include Brembo brakes with revised pads, NEKEN handlebars, EXCEL Takasago wheels with orange-anodised CNC hubs, ODI lock-on grips, a Hinson clutch cover, a factory start device, floating front wave discs, a skid plate, and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing graphics with a Selle Dalla Valle seat cover.

250 SX-F Factory Edition

The 250 SX-F Factory Edition receives the more extensive engine updates of the two. KTM says it is the most powerful production 250 cc four-stroke yet, with sharper and more usable power across the rev range.

It starts with a complete redesign of the 249.9 cc DOHC motor, featuring an oval throttle body, oval intake ports, a top-feed injector, and an all-new valvetrain.

The compression ratio has been raised to 15.5:1, and the rev limiter matches the MXGP factory bikes at 14,500 rpm.

The entire motor is now mounted 2.3 mm higher than before for better mass centralisation.

The dry weight of the KTM 250 SX-F Factory Edition is 103 kg.

450 SX-F Factory Edition

While the 250 received a complete overhaul, the 450 is more of an evolution of the previous motor, with the focus on usable power and control.

Power has increased to 63.8 hp and 52 Nm of torque. However, KTM says the extra power has been engineered for better usability rather than pure peak numbers.

This was achieved through a refined cylinder head, intake, and overall packaging.

The exhaust is larger to meet the new noise regulations without sacrificing power.

The dry weight of the new 450 SX-F Factory Edition is 105.6 kg.
