The MXGP World Championship headed to Germany for Round 7, where the championship battles continued to heat up and a few familiar names once again found themselves at the sharp end of the field. With hard-fought racing across both MXGP and MX2, the German crowd was treated to a weekend of high-speed action and close battles.

In the premier MXGP class, Lucas Coenen continued his remarkable run of form by taking a clean sweep of the races and securing the overall victory. The young Belgian looked comfortable from the moment the gate dropped and was able to control proceedings throughout the weekend.
Race one saw Coenen take the win ahead of Tim Gajser and Ruben Fernandez. Gajser kept the pressure on throughout the race but was unable to find a way past the flying Belgian, while Fernandez rounded out the podium positions with another consistent ride.
Race two delivered more of the same from Coenen, who once again crossed the line first to complete a perfect weekend. Jeffrey Herlings put together a strong ride to finish second, while Andrea Adamo delivered one of the standout performances of the race to claim third place.
With a pair of victories in hand, Coenen secured the overall win. Consistency proved crucial behind him, with Adamo’s solid results earning him second overall for the weekend. Fernandez completed the overall podium in third after backing up his race one podium with another strong finish.
MX2.
The MX2 class produced some of the closest racing of the weekend and once again highlighted just how competitive the category has become.
Sacha Coenen came out swinging in race one, taking victory ahead of Mathis Valin and South Africa’s Camden McLellan. McLellan continued to show impressive speed and composure, placing himself firmly in the fight among the front-runners.
Race two belonged to Valin, who turned the tables on his rivals to take the chequered flag. Coenen finished second to secure another excellent points haul, while home favourite Simon Längenfelder completed the podium in third. McLellan battled hard throughout the race and brought his machine home in sixth place.
When the points were added together, it was Valin who claimed the overall victory for the weekend ahead of Coenen. McLellan’s combination of a podium finish in race one and a solid result in race two was enough to secure third overall, giving the South African another valuable podium finish on the world stage.
With Round 7 now complete, the championship momentum remains firmly with several of the sport’s rising stars. Coenen’s dominance in MXGP continues to make him the rider to beat, while the MX2 category remains as unpredictable and exciting as ever. The MXGP paddock now heads to Kegums, Latvia, where Round 8 of the championship takes place on 7 June.
