This is a project that started in a garage in 2011 by a group of engineers “With the sole dedication to the relentless pursuit of brain protection.”
Since then, the high tech 6D Helmets have grown in popularity in the U.S in both off-road and road racing.
The brand has now hit SA.
‘’Our name 6D is a reference to the engineering term 6 Degrees of Freedom, which refers to the ability to move 3 dimensionally in space about the Cartesian coordinate system of X,Y and Z, including rotation about each axis. Our Omni-Directional Suspension system utilises this term to maximise its ability to absorb and mitigate energy.’’
What makes 6D Helmets different from other helmets?
The helmet is equipped with ODS (Omni-Direction Suspension). ODS is a patented technology design and is said to offer “an unparalleled safety solution”.
It’s designed to reduce damage of angular and linear acceleration experienced by the head of the rider in the case of a crash.
6D also offers a rebuild program, if the rider has an accident, the helmet can be sent in for inspection and, if safe to do so, rebuilt with the use of new parts.
All inner linings are interchangeable and can be custom built to suit all face types. The junior helmets have the same size outer shell, this means once the helmet becomes too small you can change the inner linings from small to medium or large to x-large so you don’t have to buy again for a while.
“6D Helmets are balanced and lightweight, and do not hurt my neck when racing. With excellent air flow the head stays cool and the sweat stays out of the rider’s eyes.”
