The 2025 Roof Of Africa organising team is on the ground in Lesotho working hard to make sure that this year’s edition is a roaring success. On Thursday evening, we’ll host a live chat with Route Director Graham MacLachlan and Route Manager Tausten Gibbs to give you a better idea of what we can expect from the route at this year’s Roof Of Africa. We’ve also just got news that event Director Ross Whitehead will also be in on the chat, so that should be pretty cool.
Roof Of Africa: Date 20-22 Nov 2025
Registration, Scrutineering and riders briefing is all happening at Avani Hotel in Maseru on 19 Nov.
Round The Houseson day 1 is a go. From what we hear it’s back to the traditional format. From there, competitors and spectators will not have to travel too far for the time trial.
Same spot for start and finish on each day.
Amenities will be on point for both spectators as well as competitors.
Starting and Staging points will be properly managed “With military efficiency” by old Roof hand, Sakkie Maartens.
In Graham Maclachlan, the Roof has selected a route director with enormous Roof and Lesotho experience. He has been in Lesotho nonstop since his appointment riding and checking routes, along with the Route Managers that have been appointed to assist him.
They’re all riding Beta motorcycles. Beta has partnered with the Roof Of Africa for the 2025 edition.
Motul is back. They always put on a great service with their bike wash and this year they say it’s going to be even more vibey and fun!
413 Racing is in the pits, climbing in to assist all competitors.
DSP’s. To date, two have been selected and both are within walking distance of some great views for the spectators.
Big news about competitors licensing:
Gold forms part of the Hard Enduro World Championship, and if you have not competed in a round of the HEWC championship this year and wish to score points, you’ll need an FIM license.
No MSA License needed for Iron, Bronze and Silver classes, but you will need to provide proof of personal medical cover for the event.
The Roof Of Africa has Public liability insurance in place.
What areas are we riding?
Mums the word for now. The guys want to avoid flooding the areas with riders prior to the event, but we are assured that riders and spectators alike will be impressed. We’ll know more on Thursday.
Catch some big names:
The Roof is also the final round of The Hard Enduro World Championship: You’ve watched Billy Bolt and Mani Lettenbichler slogging it out during the ‘25 championship. In Lesotho, you’ll also get to watch riders like Mitch Brightmore , Mario Roman, Alfredo Gomez and co in action…
But our SA riders are waiting to take some names…
James Moore has had a phenomenal season. Wade Young is the current King of the Mountains and guys like Matthew Green are just looking to take that gap… We also see that Brett Swanepoel will be on the start line…

Spectators: Have you booked your bed?
Avani Hotels Are is once again, one of the headline sponsors of The Roof Of Africa – their two hotels in Maseru are world class!
It’s going to be pretty damn spectacular by all accounts.
