HJC has been steadily expanding its helmet range beyond pure road racing, and the new i80 slots neatly into the growing adventure-touring and crossover segment. Designed as a modular helmet with adventure styling, the i80 is aimed at riders who split their time between tar, gravel and long-distance touring, and want one helmet that can cover a lot of bases.
Positioned below HJC’s premium adventure offerings, the i80 brings modern safety certification and practical features into a more accessible package, while still carrying the brand’s familiar design language.
What Is the HJC i80?
The i80 is a modular adventure helmet, meaning it features a flip-up chin bar combined with a removable peak visor. This allows it to function as a traditional adventure helmet for mixed riding, or as a cleaner-looking touring helmet when the peak is removed. The modular design also adds convenience for everyday riding, fuel stops and communication.
The shell is constructed from HJC’s Advanced Polycarbonate Composite, designed to balance impact resistance with manageable weight, and the helmet is certified to the latest ECE 22.06 safety standard.
Ventilation and Comfort
Ventilation is handled by HJC’s Advanced Channeling Ventilation System, which is designed to move air from the front of the helmet through internal channels and out the rear. Intake vents at the top and chin work together to help manage airflow during warmer rides, while internal padding is moisture-wicking and fully removable for cleaning.
The interior is shaped to accommodate a range of head shapes and includes channels for riders who wear glasses, making it suitable for longer days in the saddle.
Visor and Vision
Up front, the i80 uses HJC’s HJ-44 clear visor, which offers a wide field of view and is Pinlock-ready for anti-fog use. An integrated drop-down sun visor is built into the shell, providing on-the-fly glare protection without the need to change visors. The sun visor is designed to extend slightly further down for improved coverage in bright conditions.
The eye port is sized to work comfortably with goggles when the peak is fitted, reinforcing the helmet’s adventure crossover intent.
Modular Design and Practical Features
The flip-up chin bar is the defining feature of the i80, offering flexibility for touring riders and commuters alike. Communication system compatibility is built in, allowing Bluetooth units to be fitted without modification. Depending on the market, the helmet is available with either a micro-buckle or double D-ring retention system.
A chin curtain is included to help manage airflow and reduce drafts, particularly at highway speeds.
Sizing, Graphics and Variants
The HJC i80 is available in a range of solid colours and graphic options, including the Roki and IMES designs, alongside more understated solid finishes. Sizes typically range from XS through to 2XL, depending on the specific model and market availability.
Aside from graphics and colourways, the core construction and feature set remain consistent across the i80 range.       Â
Where the i80 Fits In
The i80 is aimed at riders looking for a versatile, modular helmet with adventure styling and up-to-date safety certification. Its feature set places it firmly in the mid-range segment, offering modular convenience, integrated sun protection and modern ventilation in a single package.
As always, correct sizing and fit remain the most important factors when choosing any helmet, and riders are encouraged to try the helmet on before committing.  Â
