The fourth and final round of the National Enduro Series was a double header held in a very hot and dusty Heidelberg. With the severe conditions, it was not going to be a cake walk to finish off the series for both man and machine. Five of the most intense laps took its toll on many riders, battling was to be the name of the game.
We tip our hats to Brett Swanepoel who had a great year as he came out on top to take the E2 2023 Championship Title. Sherco is delighted with Swanepoel who is their brands first National Champion. Well Done Sir.
Heinrich Aust had a good weekend on his HUSQVARNA FE250 seeing as round 2 was not so generous with him and led to him having to play a game of catch up. He started his weekend pulling off in tenth and managed to cross the line with the day’s overall class win as well as class honours. On day two there were four riders in the battle for the championship with Aust starting from the front he made sure to stay there and win himself the 2023 Championship.
In the E1 class we had Dylan Jones come into the weekend as Championship leader but suffered an injury to his hand and left day one with zero points. He came back on day two and miraculously took second place but it was just not enough to take the title. He will be concentrating on the Hard Enduro Series and the Roof of Africa.
William Slater had a great weekend as he pushed his KTM to second place on day one and a very well deserved first in his class on day two. Although he had a great weekend, nine seconds got in his way to take the Championship. His response was “It was a bittersweet weekend for me coming so close to overall glory but I am determined to keep fighting in 2023 with lots still up for grabs”
Travis Teasdale started his weekend in the middle of the starting line up having problems with his shoulder and his hand he still got himself over the line in third place on day one. Day two he started off strong but bad luck had to step in as he broke his chain in lap three. He lost valuable time but fought back and finished in 2nd place that saw him take third overall for the year.
We will keep you updated as we receive more race and championship details, so keep an eye out on our site.
Until we have the pleasure to enjoy more National Enduro action in 2024, stay safe.
