SCHUBERTH E2 EXPLORER

SCHUBERTH E2 EXPLORER – German technology for your head.

There are a lot of really nice adventure helmets on the market these days, with varying degrees of spec and features. In the premium sector of this market DMD weighs in with the Schuberth E2 Explorer, which comes standard with some rather desirable features.

The SCHUBERTH E2 is the second generation of Schuberth’s adventure helmets and the second helmet in Schuberth’s range featuring the P/J double homologation and meeting the new ECE 22.06 standard, which means you can be assured they adhere to the most up to date safety standard requirements

The Schuberth E2 is an excellent mix between the comfort of the well-known “C” series and the aggressive look and feel of an off-road helmet. The new E2 also integrates all the latest Schuberth standards in terms of safety, aerodynamics and aeroacoustics performance. With removable, washable, seamless customisable linings for maximum rider comfort. And to this end the fibreglass shell is reinforced with carbon fibre, making it much stronger but still keeping it as light as possible.

The new peak of the E2 has been developed in the Schuberth wind tunnel to minimise buffeting and vibrations. The E2  peak is designed not only to be easily adjustable in 3 positions, but also to be removed easily, so you can use it on your road bike as well, which is a very useful feature. There is a  memory function feature to the E2 visor and peak in wherever the exact position was selected with the chin bar closed, will be maintained after opening, and closing the chin bar. The chin bar itself is intuitive to use when opening and closing, with a quick action button in the middle bottom of the chin bar.

The new Schuberth E2 also features a double chin air intake, with a replaceable air filter, the top vent prevents visor fogging while riding in cold conditions, while the lower vent ensures an additional airflow when riding in extremely warm conditions. There is also a two position slidable air vent on the helmet to facilitate extra airflow over the top of the rider’s head and the large rear extraction spoiler pulls even more airflow through the helmet. The visor is Pinlock ready and all you need to do is fit the supplied Pinlock to the visor.

Very easy to install and to configure and use is the SC2 comms which does seem to be setting a new standard for motorcycle communication systems. All you have to do is buy and install the actual unit which is a very simple plug and play unit. The HD speakers and three antennas for FM Radio, Bluetooth Intercom and Mesh Intercom are already pre-installed in the Schuberth E2. The SC2 is really very simple to install: Just plug in the HD BOOM microphone, remove the covers at the back of the helmet, free the remote control housing on the side, plug both in, turn them on, and you are ready to ride!
