The second edition of the S.A Dirt Bike Festival was held once again at Legends Adventure Farm. A three-day festival with three disciplines Motocross, Enduro and X-Country had the spectators and dirt bike fans gathering at the farm. With great racing and some amazing bike brands displaying their range of bikes. A nice touch was the Linex crowd who not only had a great range on show but also gave the youngsters the chance to learn to ride a dirtbike. Demo rides were very popular as it put smiles all over the kids faces.

The show was, once again stolen by the Motocross riders as they took on the muddy track, deep ruts and mind-boggling jumps. The Legends Farm’s team did a spectacular job getting the track looking good and race ready.  The fans’ jaws dropped as they got to witness some of the country’s best and fastest riders out on track. From the get-go the racing was fierce and from my own experience, the guys and girls blew my mind with the speed and skills brought forth by the talented riders. We also got to see some of the most hard-fought battles from the front, middle and back of the packs that kept everyone entertained.

The X-Country racing gave the spectators a glimpse in their pit stops with their splash and dash maneuvers before sending the riders out once again to brave the course.

It was a lot of fun to watch

The Enduro riders had a tough race as the riders battled all of what the farm could throw at them. Rocks and boulders crossed their path followed by nasty holes and ditches. Climbing koppies and descending down steep hill sides to name only a few dangerous obstacles they have to face as they had their own unique way to keep themselves entertained.

Splash and Dash for the cross country and enduro riders….

Another highlight to the weekend came on Sunday as the Jungle Rush Freestyle Motocross Team came out to show the people what it is all about to defy gravity. Freestyle Motocross is what they do and is pretty extraordinary!  These guys have no fear as they fly through the air throwing their bodies and bikes around doing some epic tricks. We also had the privilege to see two of the team members execute perfect backflips. The fans got to watch the whole team launching from the ramp one after the other, with all of them in the air at the same time doing their own tricks. Jungle Rush FMX is most definitely a show not to be missed.

The prize money for the racing was impressive wit R250 000 split between the top 5 riders in every class.

With friends, family, dirt bikes, great food and cold beverages, you can’t ask for a better way to spend the weekend.

If they keep at it, this will become one of the most anticipated festivals in South Africa for sure.

We can’t wait to see what the Dirt Bike Festival will have in store next year.
