Mozambique Challenge 2025

Mozambique Challenge 2025 – Adventure Meets Motorsport

From 3 to 7 October 2025, the inaugural Mozambique Challenge will take place near Inhambane, Paindane, Legogo, at Blue Ocean Residential , all 4×4’s, Side x Sides, ATVs, and dirt bikes are invited to this five-day rally across some of the most scenic and challenging terrain Southern Africa has to offer. This event promises not only competition but also an authentic adventure that highlights the very best of Mozambique’s coastline and inland landscapes.

The Mozambique Challenge is open to a wide range of vehicles. Whether you arrive in a 4×4, a high-performance Side x Side, an ATV, or a dirt bike, we are told the route has been designed to test both man and machine in equal measure. From deep sand and rocky bush tracks to fast flowing coastal sections, with terrain demanding endurance, skill, and careful teamwork.

Organiser Shane Le Roux says that competitors can expect a combination of timed stages and navigational challenges. The course has been designed to move fluidly between long, open beach sections where outright speed counts, and tight, technical bush tracks where precision is everything. For the 4×4 drivers, it’s a chance to push your rigs in demanding off-road conditions. For Side x Side and ATV riders, the emphasis will be on agility and consistency. Dirt bike competitors, you okes had better be fit and have plenty of water and electrolytes as the varied terrain will be a true test of your stamina and control.

Each day the racing will start and finish within spitting distance of the base camp, situated at The Blue Ocean Resort, near Inhambane. Every evening there will be a party around the campfires, with live music, great food and plenty to wash down the day’s dust. There will also be a 10km family and novice route, as well as a kiddies quad track, with lots of beach games for everyone. And there will be a lot of exciting prizes, from exclusive rally merchandise to gear and even a couple of booby prizes.

There are going to be lots of beach games for the whole family to enjoy.

The itinerary is as follows:

Friday 3rd October: Registration opens at 8am, so you will want to travel through a day or two before. Then there will be a meet and greet and vehicle registrations, followed by a welcome braai to kick off the rally in the true spirit of friendship and camaraderie.

Saturday 4th October: At 09H00 sharp The Mozambique Rally kicks off in earnest with Round 1, a 46km loop made up of scenic beach, rolling dunes and bush trails. All promised to be a lot of fun for all skill levels. The evening will be rounded off with bonfires and festivities.

Sunday 5th October:  Round two is another 46km loop that ends at a wild bush bush camp, where all food and beverages will be supplied along with a story telling session.

Monday & Tuesday 6th and 7th October: Again 46km’s this time ending with a sunset camp, a lamb spit braai feast and prize giving.

The Mozambique Challenge isn’t only about competition, it’s also about discovery. Shane has set the rally up to showcase Mozambique’s natural diversity, from its unspoiled beaches to its inland routes which are rarely seen by visitors. He and his team have designed each overnight stop to balance rally organisation with opportunities for participants to enjoy the culture and hospitality of local communities.

Safety and support are key elements. Participants will have peace of mind knowing that this is a properly, professionally organised event with proper access to recovery services, technical assistance, and medical backup throughout the event. Ensuring that while the rally is going to demand everything from its entrants, it does so in a secure and well-managed environment.

Aside from the lekker adventure you’re all going to have, prizes will be awarded to category winners, with the highlight being a brand-new quad bike for one of the champions. This incentive adds another layer of excitement for those with a competitive streak, though for many, the experience of taking part in the very first Mozambique Challenge will be reward enough.
