Round 2 saw both series combined and took place at Terra Topia on the 2nd of March. It was a day that had no space to pack in any more action. With 176 entries, the gates were full of eager riders to twist the throttle and keep it pinned. Be it dust, mud, ruts or jumps the racers came prepared for anything.

Anticipation was replaced by pure adrenalin fueled racing as soon as the gates dropped. If there were any spectators there that had their first time at an Inland series, they left as full-blooded fans.

With 12 riders representing the SNR class that made 19 riders in all on track. Jordaan, #118 Mason Pereira Vrey only 1.753sec off pace and #6 Milan Roux.

The GASGAS Factory rider #1 Kayla Raaff gave the fans a time of 2:45.524, just over five seconds quicker than #21 Jessica Osner and 6.817 seconds of #202 Mienke Cawood. This laid the foundation for the factory rider and left it to the rest of the ladies to fight it out.

MX 1 & MX Support.

MX 1.

There were 6 riders in the main class and I am sure they played around in their practice session as their fastest time was from #42 Marco de Vrye who was nearly six seconds slower than the high school boys.

Heat 1: Okay so, they did take it easy in practice and showed the fans why they are the Premier class. #135 Dean Wheeler came around and did a best lap time of 2:06.373 and a win by over 10sec. #42 de Vrye came 2nd and #411 Joshua Mlimi 3rd.

Heat 2: Mr. Wheeler did it again, best lap time and another 1st place. They kept things the same with de Vrye 2nd and Mlimi 3rd.

MX Support.

#312 Waylin Olivier was fastest setting a time of 2:47.314 followed by #166 Henry Vroom and #34 Greg Gildenhuys.

Heat 1: #34 Gildenhuys did not like the idea of being third fastest in practice so, when that gates dropped he hit the accelerator and I don’t think he got off it until the chequered flag came out. He beat #122 Kyle Davey who came 2nd by over a minute, #72 Dylan Prout-Jones was 3rd.

Heat 2: Gildenhuys went out to prove that he will be the fastest MX Support rider of the day taking another big win this time 43.801 seconds. The rest of the support class could only follow. #166 Henry Vroom took 2nd spot and #122 Kyle Davey 3rd.

65cc.

Even with 11 riders these kids made for some great action. Their practice had the top 3 less than a second apart and the fastest time nearly 8 second quicker than the MX Support class. Top 3 – #312 Qhamani Thu, #40 Hendrico Barwise and #66 Mikah Hendricks.

Heat 1: #40 Barwise was in good form as he got a 4.032 second gap to win the race, behind him the fight was still raging for second place. #66 Hendricks took 2nd 0.458 seconds ahead of #312 Thu.

Heat 2: The little #312 65cc Husqvarna got nailed by Thu as he was victorious this time by over 7 seconds. #40 Barwise got 2nd and #19 Tommy Wotherspoon walked away with 3rd.

MX 2.

This class is extremely competitive as it also houses National level riders. 13 riders got sent off for their practice run. The pace was set by the GASGAS and FXR rider #25 Ricky Raaff with 2:21.639 5 seconds off his pace was #259 Jonathan Mlimi and then #200 Matthew Corrira.

Heat 1: (15 riders) This is where Mlimi came in to his own and owned the race track as he won this heat by over 10 seconds leaving #25 Raaff to take 2nd and #136 Mark-Anthony Filip 3rd.

Heat 2: #259 Mlimi was too hot to handle as he powered his way to a 26 second victory. #25 Raaff could do nothing but take 2nd place and #74 Cole Meyer 3rd. Before moving on to the results I just want to say what a ride by Kayla Raaff who got 8th in heat 1 and 6th in heat 2 to take 6th overall.

Overall Results:

1st #259 Jonathan Mlimi

2nd #25 Ricky Raaff

Heat 2: It was a battle of the name, who will be the fastest Keegan/Keagan? #111 Keegan Miles was the one to take the chequered flag and left it to the two Keagan’s to battle it out, it got fierce and very close as #78 Keagan Crawford took 2nd 0.623 seconds before #711 Keagan Burns to take 3rd.

PRO-MINI.

Out of the 15 riders in this class #555 Maxwell Fourie set the top time of 2:21.934, not bad at all for an 85cc bike. #234 Cassie van Zyl and #15 Dylan Bezhuidenhout had a separation of only 0.793sec.

Heat 1: #555 Fourie kept his momentum and took a 10.841 seconds win, #690 Ruben Cawood did well to keep the rest of the kids behind him and took 2nd and #15 Dylan Bezuidenhout 3rd.
