Leatt Neck Braces. The Helmet For Your Neck.

Why a Neck Brace:

Most people who have had a serious crash (Dirtbike, ATV, Adv and bicycle) say:

“Gee, I wish I’d worn a neck brace – or, on the other side… thank goodness I was wearing one…

There are many write-ups, studies specifications and information about neck braces and the benefits of using them.

In short: A neck brace is the helmet for your neck. It prevents the over rotation of your head and helps to limit the over-extension of your spinal cord.

If you need to decide between some bling and a neck brace… protective gear is the logical choice.

Leatt's data shows a 46% reduction in forces in a front impact head-moving-backwards (hyper extension) crash, a 21% reduction in front impact head-to-chest (hyper flexion) crash, and a 20% reduction in a side-to-side (lateral hyper flexion) crash. Even if crashes are hard to accurately replicate in a lab, a 46% reduction in forces in a front to back impact is hard not to get excited about.

Dress for the fall: Leatt invented the neck brace and they have a lot of experience in this regard.

Leatt did almost all the pioneering work regarding neck braces long before anyone else even started. Leatt’s  founder Dr Chris Leatt is not only a successful businessman, but he also studied medicine.

Combining Dr. Leatt’s expert knowledge of bodies, motorcycles and sound business principles make the Leatt Brace a great choice.

“I realized that I could not allow my son to ride and expose himself to risks of this type. I couldn't believe there wasn't a product for it. And it was at that precise moment when I started working on the whole neck brace project."

There are basically four models to choose from, the Leatt GPX 3.5, 4,5  5.5 and the 6.5.

The Leatt GPX 3.5 is a budget, lightweight neck brace of which the adjustability is limited. It is made of Polycarbonate. The 3.5 brace ability to take more than one serious impact force is not great, but it will give you the necessary protection when you need it.

On the other side of the spectrum Leatt has the GPX 6.5 brace. Made from carbon fibre, it is light, strong and has the most adjustability within the Leatt models.

The GPX 5.5 is the middle of the range Leatt neck brace and the most popular. The 5.5 brace is made out of composite material which makes it stronger than the 3.5 and more impact resistant. The 5.5 model is 200 grams heavier than the GPX 6.5, but significantly cheaper.

You can look them up and here’s a vid about this lot:
