It is that time of the year again…. when all our favourite extreme events come to town. Besides being our favourite FMX event, King of the Whip has to be the best Whip and Freestyle event in South Africa, if not in the whole of Africa in our humble opinion – it is an event we never miss and neither should you. Ryan van der Spuy and his team from LW Mag pull out all the stop and put on a super professional and incredibly exciting and entertaining show every year at Montecasino.
Saturday 23 November 2024 is when it all goes down…. (or is that up?), at Motecasino. Gates open at 2pm with fans being offered the opportunity to meet their favourite riders during a Pit Walk that will run until 3:30 pm. So, if you’re keen to get that special selfie and a cap or T-shirt signed we would recommend getting to Monte as early as possible, the queues are always really long.
4pm is when all the actions start and continues into the evening with the final showdown taking place under night skies and exciting flashes of pyrotechnics. Riders scoring enough points through the Best Whip qualifying rounds advance to the semi’s and finals, with the FMX Best Trick contests taking placejust before the Best Whip Finals. All of which are absolutely breathtaking to watch.
With two successful and sold out events at Montecasino, the King of the Whip has the best of South Africa duking it out with the world’s best FMX riders.
Four time XiGames medallist, Julien Vanstippen of Belgium will be returning to defend his title for the second time hoping to make it a three-peat. Local FMX star, Dallan Goldman will be breathing down his neck and hoping to keep adding to his record with a podium at every KOTW event to date. Keeping them honest will be hotshot Motocrosser Jesse Wright in the mix and hungry for a win.
Riders will be competing for their share of R250 000.00 in cash prizes as well as various sponsored prizes from the events partners, so you can we be assured the best of the best will be whipping high above Montecasino on the 23 of November 2024.
