Circuit Equipment is Imported and distributed in South Africa by Autocycle Centre who has been around since 1968. Circuit Equipment has been around for only marginally less time than that and has had sporadic success in SA over the years. With the might of Autocycle behind the brand we do expect it to become even more well known and popular on our shores.
Autocycle recently had one of their regular “show & tell” events at their Head Office in Gauteng and invited dealers and press for a short presentation and a walk around their warehouse to get a closer gander at the products. Circuit Equipments Barcelona based International Sales Manager, Henrique then chatted more about Circuit Equipment, the company and the products.
Who and what is Circuit Equipment?
This is Circuit Equipments 40th year in business. They opened their doors all the way back in 1984, close to São Paulo in Brazil. Primarily catering for the BMX and MX community at the outset, they have expanded their range to include everything from MX and BMX to Enduro, Supermoto, Mountain bikes as well as Road bikes and Cruisers with a range of rider clothing for the Brazilian market.
Their mission is to make life easier, modernise and provide safety to motorcycle and bike enthusiasts, with an eye on development for the future with constant innovation and new products. All this, while using the highest production technology available. Along the way they need to “Meet the legitimate needs of the riding public and provide sustainable solutions and results with the least possible negative impact on the environment.” So, all in all, they do seem to be a decent bunch as a company.
The Circuit Equipment Product range is vast and varied and way too much for us to discuss in any detail here, but we will highlight a few that caught our attention and fancy.
The first bit of kit that caught our eye was the chest guard, or what they refer to as a ‘Defender Vest’. We like it for its compact design, looking like other than under a MX jersey it can easily fit under an adventure or even road jacket as well without being too cumbersome or restrictive. More protection is always better, ask us, we’ve broken a rib or two in our time.
Then there are the grips, In just about every colour imaginable and for every machine from a scooter to a dirt bike and road bikes. We use em on our little CRF 230’s for marking and all sorts and on our bigger dirtbikes. They are rugged and hard wearing with a nice comfortable feel on the palm of the hand. And they come complete with grip wire.
The available colourways are matched by their hand guards in a multitude of shapes, fitments, sizes and covering the same vast and diverse range of bikes, even road bikes. Have you taken note of how many Nakeds, Super Nakeds and Café Racers are coming out with hand guards as standard these days? Great protection for your hands from road debris flicked up by bakkies with big tyres as well as from those icy winter winds and summer rains.
Visit Circuit Equipment‘s website just to get an idea of what they do and then hit the PBA website to see what is available in SA and where your closest stockist is.
Autocycle also took the opportunity to showcase a whole bunch of their other products such as SABAT and Toplite motorcycles batteries, HJC helmets, Michelin tyres, Five gloves, Emgo motorcycle accessories and parts as well as some of the products their other divisions within the Auto-X group import and distribute. The evening was a festive affair with a raffle type draw won by an ecstatic Marco Salvatore from Primrose Motorcycles and Italmoto.
