Kymco MXU 250

Kymco MXU 250 Sport & Utility Quad

We get down and dusty with Kymco’s MXU 250…

By PeterP

It’s been a while since we’ve ridden a quad. it’s just like riding a bicycle – once you know how, it all comes back to you…

This was the case with this little 250 Quad. It is nothing like my old Yamaha Raptor 700, but the fun factor is up there for sure. This Kymco is easy to ride and understand and of course, making some dust here and there was a blast.

I was not expecting much from this little automatic 250, I kinda expected to be a little bit bored – but I was wrong.

It’s very well balanced ATV with a firm and yet not too shabby power delivery.

The riding position is comfortable and instruments on the handle bars are sensibly placed.  It’s an easy and fun get on and go quad to ride. Not an intimidating machine at all.

Maneuverability is  easy and nippy. She is narrow and light quad so she can be moved around quite easily.

In fact, overall, this quad is just so… easy!

Apart from the leisure riding, the Quad does come with some utility practicality. Loading racks front and rear as well as a mounting for a tow bar and a sturdy steel bumper concealed nicely by blue plastics. Lights front and rear are good quality and nice and bright.

A feature that also stood out is the pull start on the left of the engine giving you some peace of mind should you have a flat battery. Then of course as she’s a carburetor model the choke makes the cold start easy as pie.

The heads up display or as I call it “HUD” is also easy to read giving you all the required information you need.

Suspension and ground clearance is just right in our opinion, she navigated some tricky rocks and steep climbs and banks without any hassles.

The stock Maxxis tyres also contribute to the firm grip and effortless riding. She is an automatic with a simple shifter lever on the right side.

Removing the seat to access the air filter and battery is a 2 minute job, and all the required tools you might need are neatly packed in a pouch located under the seat.

From practical use to lekker outrides this little quad is a great all rounder

All in all really good fun. Easy power, soft suspension, quality feel. Comfortable, with the added practicality of some sturdy carriers for workhorse use.

We’ve always enjoyed the Kymco lineup.
