The Swedish hardpack of Uddevalla produced another important weekend in the 2026 MXGP championship, with Jeffrey Herlings continuing his incredible run of form in MXGP while Sacha Coenen dominated MX2. South Africa’s Camden McLellan also kept himself firmly in the championship fight with another podium finish as the title battles head towards the final rounds.

#84 Jeffrey Herlings is becoming very difficult to stop.
The Dutchman once again delivered when it mattered, taking both race wins to claim another overall victory and continue his incredible run of form at the sharp end of the MXGP championship.
In MXGP Heat 1, Herlings took the win ahead of #41 Pauls Jonass, while #16 Tom Vialle finished third.
South Africa’s #10 Calvin Vlaanderen also had a solid opening moto, coming home in 12th.
Heat 2 was another Herlings masterclass as the Dutchman again crossed the finish line first. #1 Romain Febvre finished second, with #243 Tim Gajser completing the top three.
Vlaanderen’s second moto was unfortunately a major step backwards, with the South African finishing 26th.
There was more to his difficult weekend than the result suggests. Vlaanderen had already suffered a crash in Saturday’s qualifying race, going down on lap seven and eventually finishing 15th. It was not the start to the weekend the South African would have wanted, and the difficult qualifying result was followed by a tough second moto on Sunday.
The overall MXGP podium saw #84 Jeffrey Herlings take the top step, #1 Romain Febvre finish second overall and #16 Tom Vialle complete the podium.

MX2
In MX2, Belgium’s #19 Sacha Coenen produced a perfect weekend of his own.
Coenen won both motos and controlled the class from start to finish, with #26 Liam Everts finishing second in both races.
In MX2 Heat 1, Coenen took the win ahead of Everts, while South Africa’s #8 Camden McLellan put together another strong ride to finish third.
Heat 2 followed almost exactly the same script. Coenen again took the chequered flag first, Everts finished second and McLellan once again secured third.
That gave all three riders identical finishing positions across the two motos and made for a very clear MX2 podium.

3rd #8 Camden McLellan
For McLellan, the result is another important podium in what has become a serious MX2 championship campaign. The South African continues to put pressure on the riders ahead of him and remains firmly in the title conversation.
It was an impressive ride considering the drama surrounding championship leader #99 Guillem Farres.
Farres suffered a heavy crash during Saturday’s qualifying race, resulting in a cut to his forehead that required stitches. There were genuine doubts about whether the Spaniard would be able to line up for Sunday’s motos, but Farres did what championship contenders do. He climbed back onto the bike and raced.
He finished sixth in Heat 1 and then improved to fourth in Heat 2, giving him fourth overall for the weekend.
It wasn’t the result Farres would have wanted, but considering what happened the day before, simply making it through both motos was an important result for his championship campaign.
Farres remains at the top of the MX2 championship standings, while McLellan continues to apply pressure behind him.
The championship now heads to the Netherlands for Round 16 at Arnhem on 23 August, where another crucial weekend awaits as both the MXGP and MX2 title battles enter their final stages.
