KTM South Africa has announced a cool project for this year’s Roof of Africa — the legendary “Mother of Hard Enduro.”

Ian Rall will be taking on the Iron Class aboard the all-new KTM 390 Enduro R.

We rode one just the other day and came away pretty impressed, you can read all about that right here… but would we go and race the Roof on one?

Sounds like fun!

The sales blurb goes like this: “Designed to bridge the gap between adventure and enduro performance, the KTM 390 Enduro R is built to handle both the open road and tough off-road terrain.”

To prove just how capable this new machine is, the team decided to enter it into one of the most demanding races on the planet — with almost no modifications!

The bike will remain completely standard, showcasing its out-of-the-box potential. Only the road-legal components such as mirrors, indicators, and license plate holder have been removed. To ensure durability through Lesotho’s harsh mountain terrain, a few protective components from the KTM PowerParts catalog have been added — all of which are available to any rider looking to prepare their own bike for serious off-road adventure.

For a touch of extra tuneability, the team has also fitted a WP Pro-Component rear shock, offering greater adjustability for the interesting challenges that The Roof tends to chuck your way.

It’s going to be fun, watch our socials for up to date day by day updates at The Roof Of Africa: @dirtandtrail insta and facebook.

Here’s what the chaps from KTM have to say:

“This project perfectly embodies the KTM “READY TO RACE” spirit — pushing boundaries, testing limits, and proving that the new KTM 390 Enduro R is more than ready for whatever the trail throws its way.”

You can catch KTM’s Promo Vid for the project right here.
